    • This study aims to analyze the importance of pedagogical practices in children's development with emphasis on teaching geography in a public daycare in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Imperatriz, second largest city in the state of Maranhão. Qualitative research consisted of applying an open questionnaire to teachers of early childhood education. The data pointed out the importance of interaction between teacher-student, in its personal and professional aspects, observing pedagogical practices from the way children are inserted in the school environment to the games developed as a technique of however, in the geographical scope these practices are not well delimited, but are applied concomitantly with the teaching of other disciplines, through interdisciplinarity.
