  • A multiparameter fiber-optic sensor based on a Fabry-Pérot interferometer and a fiber Bragg grating has been fabricated and demonstrated to measure pressure and temperature. Thesensor is composed of a micro-cavity machined by a femtosecond laser and a diaphragm made of the same fiber, producing reflective mirrors. Experiments indicate that the inscribed FBG is insensitive to pressure and has an almost linear sensitivity to temperature changes of 10.08 pm/ºC. On the other hand, the cavity shows a pressure sensitivity of 3.82 pm/MPa and shifts in the dips depending on temperature variations of 9.73 pm/ºC. We haveconstructed a sensitivity matrix considering the pressure and temperature sensitivities of the cavity and the FBG to determine the expected behavior in simultaneous measurements. Thesensor structure has merits of high sensitivity, ease of fabrication and low cost, which make it valuable for applications in harsh environments.
