The integration of fiber optic sensors in carbon reinforced composite aerostructures is a challenge because both the structure and the fiber optic sensor integrities must be preserved. In this work we present a solution by combining low scattering plastic fiber optics and textile carbon composites. As a concept demonstrator we operates a simple amplitude sensor to sense structure flexure and torsion.
