Resumen de Design of a solar simulator using a Genetic Algorithm: a case study

Marta Rodríguez Guerra, R. Vergaz, Eduardo López Fraguas

  • Solar simulators were traditionally made by xenon lamps, optical filters and other optical components. In the recent years, LED-based simulators including different optics have arisen due to their versatility, low cost and long lifetime. Among the design procedures to build them, algorithm-based methods could be applied to find optimal configurations of LEDs. Although this kind of methods have been used in the last years, hardly ever thespatial dimensions of the real problem are considered, being only the spectral match pursued, thus relegating the efforts made to a mostly theoretical sphere. In this communication, we present a methodology based on the use of a Genetic Algorithm that takes this aspect into account. With our approach, a fully-designed LED-based functional luminary that achieves the A+A+ classification according to the current official standard IEC 60904-9 can be obtained.
