Resumen de Nonplanar partially coherent sources

Juan Carlos González de Sande, Massimo Santarsiero, Rosario Martínez Herrero, Gemma María Piquero Sanz, Olga Korotkova, Franco Gori

  • Models for partially coherent spherical and cylindrical sources are analyzed. A decomposition into coherent modes of their cross spectral density is presented for both cases. The main characteristics of coherence are calculated both at the source surface and in propagation. From the general expression many examples with different characteristics can be derived. One interesting feature of partially coherent spherical sources is that if the superposition of modes is limited to spherical harmonic functions with the same value of their index , the radiated field exhibits perfect radial coherence along any direction, while the angular coherence is only partial. On the other hand, the cylindrical sources are described by angularly modulated Hankel functions whose amplitudes are subject to a filtering effect during propagation
