    El autor revisa las diferentes opiniones publicadas acerca de la posición de las especies del género Mehlisia ]ohnston, 1913, y crea la nueva familia Meh­lissidae con base en características del aparato reproductor, glándulas vitelógenas, aparato excretor y ventosas. Se incluyen en ella tres especies de Mehlisia.

    The author reviews the various opinions published regarding the taxono­mic position of the species of Mehlisia Johnston, 1913. After careful study of the original descriptions and specimens of Johnston, he crea the the new family Mehlisiidae on the basis of charateristics of the reproductive apparatus, vitellariae, excretory apparatus and suckers, to comprise the two earlier species of Mehlisia and M. gatesi Sharma, 1943 (synonym: Sharmaia gatesi ( Sharma, 1943) Yama­guti, 1958) , reinstated as valid in the genus. M. ornithorhynchi (Johnston, 1901) Johnston, 1913, is designated as the type of the genus Mehlisia.
