La colecistitis aguda, es una entidad clínica caracterizada por la inflamación de la pared vesicular que se manifiesta habitualmente por dolor abdominal, sensibilidad en hipocondrio derecho (HCD) y fiebre1 La colecistitis aguda se produce cuando la bilis queda atrapada en la vesícula biliar. A menudo esto sucede porque un cálculo biliar bloquea el conducto cístico, el conducto a través del cual la bilis viaja dentro y fuera de la vesícula biliar. Cuando un cálculo bloquea este conducto, la bilis se acumula, causando irritación y presión en la vesícula biliar. Esto puede conducir a hinchazón e infección2.

Acute cholecystitis is a clinical entity characterized by inflammation of the gallbladder wall that is usually manifested by abdominal pain, tenderness in the right hypochondrium (RHC) and fever1.
Acute cholecystitis occurs when bile becomes trapped in the gallbladder. This often happens because a gallstone blocks the cystic duct, the tube through which bile travels in and out of the gallbladder. When a stone blocks this duct, bile builds up, causing irritation and pressure on the gallbladder. This can lead to swelling and infection2.
