Resumen de Teorización en torno a la feminidad de las prostitutas

  Durante el primer tercio del siglo XX, aún pesaba sobre el imaginario colectivo el modelo decimonónico de «perfecta casada», a partir del cual, se valoraba la feminidad que cada mujer podía tener. Las prostitutas se alejaban de ese ideal de ama de casa enclaustrada en el recinto del hogar doméstico, sumida en la esfera de lo privado, quedando por lo tanto exentas de cualquier concesión de feminidad. Por esa razón, se les otorgó la categorización de «hembras» o «bestias» concediéndoles cierto estigma de animalidad que, en modo alguno, respondía a su auténtica existencia, porque las prostitutas estaban dotadas de una conciencia social y política que les concedía la libertad suficiente para autodefinir su propia identidad y subjetividad como individuos.

  During the first third of the 20th century, there still weighed over the collective imagination, the 19th century model of “perfectly married”, on which, the femininity that every woman could have was valued. Prostitutes moved away from this ideal of the housewife enclosed in the domestic home, submerged in the private sphere, finding themselves therefore, exempt from any female concessions. As a consequence, they were categorised as “females” or “beasts” attributing them with a certain animal stigma which, in some way, responded to their real existence, because the prostitutes were gifted with a social and political conscience which granted them enough freedom to selfdefine their own identity and subjectivity as individuals.
