Resumen de Do Sertão dos Tocós ao Território do Sisal: rumo à invenção de uma região e uma vocação

The aim of this paper was to investigate different conformations of agricultural space in Valente, sisal region of Bahia, forging new ruralities in this place. For this, it was investigated the course of transformation from the "Sertão dos Tocós" to "Sisal Region", trying to understand this process as they form new vocations and recreate new identities, that strengthen and (re)create new bonds of people to their place. It was possible to question the common notion of "natural vocation" which takes the sisal culture in semi-arid region oh Bahia, that informs not only public policies for this "territory of the sisal, but also various farmers' narratives about their daily lives.

Investigar distintas conformações do espaço rural no Município de Valente, região sisaleira da Bahia, forjando novas ruralidades no lugar. Abordagem do percurso de transformação do que foi “sertão dos Tocos” à atual “Região sisaleira”, buscando compreender, nesse processo, como se formam novas vocações e se recriam novas identidades, que reforçam e (re)criam novos elos de pertencimento ao lugar. Problematização da noção comum de “vocação natural”, que assume a cultura do agave no semiárido baiano, enfatizando que essa vocação informa não apenas políticas públicas para esse “território do sisal”, mas, também, diversas narrativas dos agricultores sobre seu cotidiano.
