    In 1903, Antoni M. Penya and Mn. Ildefons Rul·lan jointly published their third work related to oral literature: Filología de Calendario (Calendar Philology), a work that is difficulty to classify yet that has important philological and literary content. Specifically, the volume relates the terms referring to meteorological weather and the calendar (calendar, day, moon, etc.) with songs, proverbs and riddles —both in Catalan and in other Romance languages— that contain the word that the authors want to describe.In the introduction, Rul·lan and Penya express their goal of making a comparative collection: ‘the only way to study languages with some benefit’. Then they present the Catalan orthographic rules that they will use for the volume, and finally, they explain the contents. The importance of the book lies in the number of materials it presents (approximately 250 songs and 550 proverbs) and its contribution to the field of comparative paremiology. That is why, in this article, we highlight the value of this work, and especially the folkloric materials (songs, sayings and riddles) it contains, as well as the authors’ contribution to Catalan folklore.

    L’any 1903 Antoni M. Penya publicà conjuntament amb Mn. Ildefons Rul·lan la seva darrera obra relacionada amb la literatura oral: Filología de Calendario, una obra de difícil classificació, però amb un important contingut filològic i literari. El volum, concretament, relaciona els termes referits al temps meteorològic i al calendari (calendario, día, luna...) amb endevinalles, parèmies i cançons —tant en català com en altres llengües romàniques— que contenen la paraula que els autors volen descriure.

    A la introducció, Rul·lan i Penya mostren la voluntat de fer un recull comparatiu: «única manera de estudiar las lenguas con algún provecho». A continuació, presenten les normes ortogràfiques catalanes que seguiran per al volum i, finalment, exposen els diferents continguts. La importància del treball rau en la quantitat de materials —tant en català com en castellà— que presenta (aproximadament 250 cançons i 550 parèmies) i en la contribució que fa al camp d’estudi de la paremiologia comparada. És per això que, en aquest article, posarem en valor aquesta obra, i especialment els materials folklòrics (cançons, parèmies i endevinalles) que aporta, així com la contribució dels autors a la folklorística catalana.
