  • Agriculture is an ideal activity for soil sequestration since the in- crease in organic matter in the soil contributes to its fertility, al- lowing for greater crop yields. Reclaimed water represents an op- portunity for mitigation. In 3 campaigns carried out in Nov 2019, July 2020 and Dec 2021, soil respiration was measured in the field with commercial equipment (Lc-Pro), also determining MO and EC in the soil samples. The study has provided experimental values of soil respiration, relating them to the conditioning factors, contrib- uting to a better understanding of the C cycle in the semi-arid re- gions of Africa. In addition, it has demonstrated the high potential for both C sequestration and food production when drip irrigation with regenerated water is available.
