Resumen de Hepatitis B y su tratamiento con entecavir

  La hepatitis B1 es una enfermedad infecciosa causada por el virus VHB (virus hepatitis B). La hepatitis causa inflamación del hígado. Puede causar dos tipos de infección: aguda, que solo dura unos días y crónica, es más grave y puede causar cirrosis hepática o cáncer de hígado. Es una infección principalmente de transmisión sexual, aunque existen otras vías de transmisión como la transmisión de madre a feto, compartir agujas, transfusiones de sangre.

  El entecavir2 es un fármaco que se usa para tratar la infección crónica por hepatitis B (inflamación del hígado causada por un virus) en adultos y niños mayores de 2 años de edad que tengan daño hepático. El entecavir pertenece a una clase de medicamentos llamados análogos nucleósidos. Funciona al disminuir la cantidad del virus de la hepatitis B (VHB) en el cuerpo. El entecavir no cura el VHB y en casos no evita las complicaciones de la hepatitis B crónica (cirrosis hepática o cáncer de hígado). El entecavir no previene el contagio del virus a otras personas.

  Hepatitis B is an infectious disease caused by the HBV virus (hepatitis B virus). Hepatitis causes inflammation of the liver. It can cause two types of infection: acute, which lasts only a few days, and chronic, which is more severe and can cause liver cirrhosis or liver cancer. It is mainly a sexually transmitted infection, although there are other routes of transmission such as mother to child transmission, sharing needles, blood transfusions.

  Entecavir is a drug used to treat chronic hepatitis B infection (inflammation of the liver caused by a virus) in adults and children over 2 years of age who have liver damage. Entecavir belongs to a class of drugs called nucleoside analogues. It works by decreasing the amount of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the body. Entecavir does not cure HBV and in some cases does not prevent the complications of chronic hepatitis B (liver cirrhosis or liver cancer). Entecavir does not prevent the spread of the virus to others.
