Resumen de Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre estimulación temprana de padres y cuidadores de niños y niñas de 3 a 5 años que reciben atención a la primera infancia

  El presente trabajo tuvo por objetivo establecer la relación entre conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre estimulación temprana en padres y cuidadores de niños de 3 a 5 años, que reciben atención en Centros de Desarrollo Integral del Instituto Salvadoreño para la Atención Integral de la Niñez y Adolescencia. La metodología siguió un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo y un diseño transversal, con abordaje observacional. Las técnicas utilizadas fueron la entrevista y la observación; los instrumentos: bitácora de campo, guía de entrevista. Los resultados mostraron las condiciones básicas de la infraestructura de las instituciones en estudio. El conocimiento y la atención proporcionada por las cuidadoras tienen un sustento teórico y práctico, además describieron la actitud de los padres como «no buena», al no involucrarse en la estimulación de sus hijos. Pese a lo anterior, el 90.60 % de los padres conoce de estimulación temprana y se involucran en el juego con los niños. Se concluye que, en la óptica de los padres de familia hay involucramiento en actividades de estimulación. Sin embargo, al contrastar la opinión de los cuidadores, los padres no muestran integración al juego y la enseñanza de actividades para su independencia, socialización y valores.

  The objective of this study was to establish the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and practices on early stimulation in parents and caregivers of children aged 3 to 5 years, who receive care in Integral Development Centers of the Salvadoran Institute for the Integral Care of Children and Adolescents (Instituto Salvadoreño para la Atención Integral de la Niñez y Adolescencia). The methodology followed a quantitative, descriptive approach and a cross-sectional design, with an observational approach. The techniques used were interview and observation; the instruments: field logbook, interview guide. The results showed the basic conditions of the infrastructure of the institutions under study. The knowledge and care provided by the caregivers have a theoretical and practical basis, and they also described the attitude of the parents as "not good", as they are not involved in the stimulation of their children. In spite of the above, 90.60% of the parents know about early stimulation and are involved in playing with the children. It is concluded that, from the parents' point of view, there is involvement in stimulation activities. However, when contrasting the opinion of the caregivers, the parents do not show integration to play and teaching activities for their independence, socialization and values.
