La refundación del PSOE en Don Benito y Villanueva de la Serena (1976-1979)

    El objetivo de este artículo es contribuir a cubrir el vacío de información existente sobre la refundación de las agrupaciones locales del PSOE en Don Benito y Villanueva de la Serena. La “recreación” de las dos agrupaciones socialistas de ambas ciudades, no fue nada más que uno de tantos acontecimientos de la transición política iniciada en nuestro País, poco antes de 1975 (y que entonces pasaron casi inadvertidos). Estimo el término Refundación como más apropiado que el de fundación, porque las sociedades obreras ligadas al PSOE dombenitense se habían constituido mucho antes de la proclamación de la II República; la práctica desaparición del PSOE como organización efectiva en todo el territorio nacional, desde 1939, no supuso que la renovación del viejo partido socialista (a partir de 1974) desembocara (teóricamente) en una fundación “ex novo”. La referencia conjunta a las dos poblaciones vecinas resulta obligada porque, inicialmente, los afiliados de Don Benito estuvieron adscritos a la Agrupación local de Villanueva de la Serena, una de las tres pioneras en la Provincia de Badajoz. El ámbito geográfico del artículo desborda ampliamente el marco estrictamente local, dada la destacada proyección de la influencia del grupo socialista dombenitense, en la Provincia de Badajoz, e incluso fuera de la misma.

    The aim of this article is to help fill the existing information gap on the refounding of the local PSOE groups in Don Benito and Villanueva de la Serena. The "recreation" of the two socialist groups in both cities was nothing more than one of many events of the political transition that began in our country, shortly before 1975 (and then went almost unnoticed). I consider the term Refundación as more appropriate than that of foundation, because the workers' societies linked to the Dombenitense PSOE had been constituted long before the proclamation of the Second Republic; The practical disappearance of the PSOE as an effective organization throughout the national territory, since 1939, did not mean that the renewal of the old socialist party (from 1974) would lead (theoretically) to an “ex novo” foundation. The joint reference to the two neighboring populations is obligatory because, initially, the members of Don Benito were attached to the local Association of Villanueva de la Serena, one of the three pioneers in the Province of Badajoz. The geographical scope of the article goes beyond the strictly local framework, given the outstanding projection of the influence of the socialist group from Dombenitense, in the Province of Badajoz, and even outside of it.
