    La presencia de los judíos en Uruguay se remonta al último tercio del siglo XIX y continuó manifestándose hasta mediados del XX. Las principales causales de su emigración estuvieron vinculadas a las persecuciones e intentos de exterminio sufridos por estos en sus lugares de origen. Los años entre los cuales transcurrió la Shoá marcaron el momento de su mayor llegada al país.

    El objetivo de este estudio es construir la memoria de los judíos sobrevivientes de la Shoá constituida por sus experiencias tanto las migratorias como las de sus vidas en sus países de origen las cuales los hicieron tomar el camino de salir de estos y escoger un nuevo hogar en Uruguay.

    Su construcción forma parte integrante del patrimonio migratorio inmaterial cuya huella se encuentra hasta el momento presente en la sociedad uruguaya.

    Para el logro del objetivo descrito se optó por utilizar un enfoque metodológico mixto.

    The construction of the memory of Jewish immigrants and refugees, in the case studied here of those who arrived in Uruguay between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th, coming from Europe, the Near East and North Africa, is an integral part of the intangible migratory heritage whose mark is still present in Uruguayan society.

    The objective of this study is to build that memory of Jewish immigrants and refugees constituted by their experiences, both migratory and those of their lives in their countries of origin, which made them take the path of leaving these and opt for a new home in Uruguay. We mainly focus on the construction of the memory of those who arrived in the country as a result of the horrors suffered during the Shoah.

    To achieve the objective described, it was decided to use a mixed methodological approach.
