Los libros ilustrados para niños juegan un papel importante en la educación infantil en varios aspectos, según Painter et al. (2012). La lectura de libros ilustrados no solo brinda alegría a los niños, sino que también se considera una preparación necesaria para la transición de los niños a la alfabetización y el desarrollo de su cognición. Para explorar cómo se construyen los significados en los libros ilustrados para niños, este artículo utiliza la Gramática Sistémico Funcional en el análisis del libro ilustrado chino seleccionado para investigar la construcción de significados. El objetivo principal de este artículo es examinar cómo se representa la relación entre Jim y su padre a través del lenguaje, con un enfoque particular en el significado interpersonal. A través del análisis de los sistemas de VALORACIÓN y NEGOCIACIÓN en relación con la metafunción interpersonal y las fases de género en esta narrativa de libro ilustrado, se ha demostrado el profundo vínculo entre Tim y su padre en líneas y detalles, de modo que el tema de este libro ilustrado es comprendido por el público.

Children’s picture books play an important role in the early childhood education in several respects, according to Painter et al. (2012). Reading picture books not only brings joy to children but is also considered as a necessary preparation for children’s transition to literacy and their cognition development. To explore how meanings are constructed in children’s picture books, this paper utilizes Systemic Functional Grammar in analyzing the selected Chinese children’s picture book to investigate the construction of meanings. The primary goal of this paper is to examine how the relationship between Jim and his father is depicted through language, with a particular focus on interpersonal meaning. Through the analysis of the systems of APPRAISAL and NEGOTIATION with regards to the interpersonal metafunction and the genre phases in this picture book narrative, the deep bond between Tim and his dad has been proved in lines and details, thus the theme of this picture book is understood by audiences.
