Paul Natorp publica “Numero, tiempo y espacio en sus relaciones con las funciones primitivas del pensamiento” en la revista Philosophische Monatshafte en 1900. Este escrito es de gran relevancia por dos motivos centrales. En primer lugar, Natorp adelanta las tesis centrales que luego presentará en Los fundamentos lógicos de las ciencias exactas, el trabajo principal de su primer período de producción. En segundo lugar, en esta presentación, puede evidenciarse el núcleo de la propuesta filosófica de Natorp en diálogo con la filosofía kantiana. Sin embargo, también el artículo exhibe de forma clara y concisa la crítica fundamental del neokantismo de Marburgo a Kant. Natorp argumenta que: a) espacio y tiempo no son formas de la intuición sino funciones del pensamiento y b) no hay nada dado a la intuición sino que el objeto es puesto por el pensar. Este escrito es uno de los no tan números lugares en los que el Neokantismo de Marburgo se dirige abiertamente contra Kant.

Paul Natorp publishes "Number, time and space in the journal Philosophische Monatshafte in 1900. This writing is highly relevant for two main reasons. In the first place, Natorp advances the central theses that he will later present in The Logical Foundations of the Exact Sciences, the main work of his first period of production. Secondly, in this presentation, the core of Natorp’s philosophical proposal in dialogue with Kantian philosophy can be evidenced. However, the article also clearly and concisely exhibits the fundamental critique of Marburg Neo-Kantianism to Kant. Natorp argues that a) space and time are not forms of intuition but functions of thought and b) and b) there is nothing given to intuition, but the object is put by thinking. This writing is one of the not so many places where Marburg Neo-Kantianism is openly directed against Kant.
