    Este trabajo pretende dar a conocer la historia y los fondos documentales y colecciones bibliográficas custodiados en el Archivo Franciscano de Murcia y en la Biblioteca Franciscana de Fondos Antiguos de Murcia, respectivamente. Ambos son los encargados de custodiar el patrimonio documental y bibliográfico procedente de todos los conventos y casas que formaban parte de la antigua Provincia Franciscana de Cartagena, entidad que durante sus seis siglos de existencia se extendió geográficamente por la Comunidad Autónoma de la Región de Murcia y parte de las actuales Comunidad Valenciana, Andalucía, Castilla La Mancha y Aragón, así como algunas plazas del norte de África, Centroamérica y Sudamérica, Japón, China y Filipinas.

    The aims of this work is to provide for information the history and documentary collections and bibliographic collections kept in the Franciscan Archive of Murcia (AFM) and in the Franciscan Library of Ancient Collections of Murcia (BFFAM), respectively. Both institutions, dependent on the Franciscan Fraternity of Murcia, are located in the convent of Nuestra Señora de la Merced, a building built on land, adjacent to the church of the same name, ceded in perpetuity to the Franciscan Order by the bishopric of the Diocese of Cartagena. -Murcia. The Archive and Library are in charge of guarding the documentary and bibliographical heritage from all the convents and houses that were part of the former Franciscan Province of Cartagena, an entity that during its six centuries of existence spread geographically throughout the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and part of the current Valencian Community, Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha and Aragón, as well as some places in North Africa, Central and South America, Japan, China and the Philippines.
