Resumen de Memorias subterráneas. El caso del ex centro clandestino de detención, política y torturas Providencia en Antofagasta

El presente artículo presenta de manera exploratoria cómo se construye la memoria colectiva de los sobrevivientes del ex centro de detención política y tortura Providencia en Antofagasta, que operó a manos del Servicio de Inteligencia de Carabineros –SICAR– durante la dictadura chilena entre los años 1973 y 1986, abordando los hitos represivos ligados al lugar, la relevancia sobre las militancias políticas de los protagonistas y el rol del testimonio en torno a la impunidad de las violencias. Para ello se examinaron testimonios de sobrevivientes realizados para esta investigación, resaltando aspectos simbólicos de los relatos a partir del presente, observando la resignificación de los hechos, además de las implicancias que tiene el lugar en su forma religiosa y en su uso por Carabineros a la fecha. En los resultados se identifican silencios y dicotomías alrededor de la construcción de memorias de sobrevivientes del recinto. Esta investigación contribuye al debate político sobre el negacionismo en Chile, además de aportar un insumo a la Agrupación que hoy disputa el inmueble para constituirlo como un Sitio de Memoria para la comunidad antofagastina.

This article explores how is constructed the collective memory of the survivors of the Providencia torture and political detention center in Antofagasta, which was operated during the Chilean dictatorship between 1973 and 1986 at the hands of the Carabineros Intelligence Service –SICAR–. Addressing the repressive milestones linked to the place, the relevance of the political militancy of the protagonists and the role of testimony regarding the impunity of violence. For this, testimonies of survivors made for this investigation were examined, highlighting the symbolic aspects of the stories from the present, observing the re signification of the events occurred, in addition to the implications that the place has in its religious form and the perpetuation of Carabineros in the place.
