  • An especially fine brass display plate in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is identified here for the first time as a work by the master metalsmith and engraver Orazio Fortezza and a commission for the Venetian Foscari family. Fortezza was from Dalmatia, which formed part of the Venetian empire, and the objects that he created are characterised by a richly engraved vocabulary of ornament and narrtives inspired by ancient precedents
