Resumen de Un análisis de la estructura argumentativa de un informe de investigación en WBE

En este trabajo se presenta un análisis de la estructura argumentativa de un informe de investigación en wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), con miras a establecer un punto de partida sólido para el estudio de la dimensión argumentativa de esta disciplina. La motivación e interés que subyace a tal propósito tiene un alcance mayor y es doble. Por una parte, contribuir al estudio filosófico de la ciencia desde la teoría de la argumentación mediante un estudio de caso. Por otra parte, poner a prueba las propias herramientas de teoría de la argumentación –concretamente de la pragmadialéctica y la dialéctica de argumentos–, al analizar una argumentación real en un contexto científico específico. La investigación en WBE ha sido escogida, a su vez, por dos motivos: el primero, la experiencia personal y el acceso directo a la investigación en ese campo y, el segundo, la novedad y relevancia social de la propia WBE.

This paper analyzes the argumentative structure of a research report in wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), with the purpose of establishing a solid starting point for the study of the argumentative dimension of this discipline. The motivation and interest underlying such a purpose is broader in scope and twofold. On the one hand, to contribute to the philosophical study of science from the standpoint of argumentation theory by means of a case study. On the other hand, to test the tools of argumentation theory itself - specifically pragmadialectics and argument dialectics - by analyzing a real argumentation in a specific scientific context. The research in WBE has been chosen, in turn, for two reasons: first, because of the experience and direct access to the research in that field and, second, because of the novelty and social relevance of WBE itself.
