Resumen de Nuevas atribuciones al pintor Gaspar de Quevedo en Tenerife y Lanzarote

  Gaspar de Quevedo llega a Sevilla desde Tenerife en los años treinta del siglo XVII. En la capital hispalense ejerce como pintor, tras formarse con el maestro Miguel Güelles y crear una familia con Isidora de León. En los años cincuenta retorna a Canarias tras sobrevivir a la peste de 1649, retomando la primera idea de ser sacerdote. A su vuelta trae los modos de la pintura del primer naturalismo sevillano a las islas. Su retorno pudo suponer un impacto similar a lo sucedido con la presencia del escultor Martín de Andújar en Tenerife. Proponemos el incremento de la lista de obras con estas nuevas atribuciones, donde apreciamos lo moderno de su arte y la diferencia frente a otros artistas activos en Tenerife durante el Seiscientos.

  Gaspar de Quevedo arrived from Seville to Tenerife in the thirties of the seventeenth century. In the Andalusian capital, he works as a painter, after learning from the maestro Miguel Güelles and creating a family with Isidora de León. In the fifties, he returned to the Canary Islands after surviving the plague of 1649, taking up his first idea of being a priest.

  On his return, he brought the modes of painting of the first Sevillian naturalism to the Islands. His return could have had a similar impact to what happened with the presence of the sculptor Martín de Andújar in Tenerife. We propose increasing the list of works with these new attributions, where we appreciate the modernity of his art and the difference compared to other active artists in Tenerife during the 17th century.
