    Como imagen fundamental de la poesía clásica china, el agua cobra una notable importancia en la obra de Su Shi (Su Dongpo). En este trabajo se analizan los significados de este elemento natural en las composiciones de Su Shi relacionadas con la nostalgia por la tierra natal -uno de los temas más representativos de su creación poética- según las diferentes distancias psicológicas entre el autor y la imagen, las cuales podrían clasificarse en tres: la evocación de la nostalgia por tierra natal, la personificación y la espiritualización. A través de la traducción y las observaciones analíticas, se estudia cómo el poeta asimila la tradición literaria para después innovar respecto a la simbología del agua. El artículo desvela las influencias de las doctrinas confucianistas y daoístas en el autor, lo que ayuda a comprender su mundo interior manera más profunda.

    As a fundamental image of classical Chinese poetry, water assumes a remarkable importance in the work of Su Shi (Su Dongpo). In this paper, we analyze the meanings of this natural element in the compositions of Su Shi related to nostalgia for the hometown-one of the most representative themes in his poetic oeuvre-from the different psychological distances between the author and the image, which could be classified on three: evocation of nostalgia for the hometown, personification and spiritualization. Through translation and analytical observations, we study how the poet assimilates the literary tradition and then innovates with respect to the symbolism of water. The article reveals the influences of the Confucian and Daoist doctrines on the author, contributing to a deeper understanding of his inner world.
