  Since the 2000s, Shiites in Senegal have been taking part in the celebration of the birth of the Prophet. Although they follow the Sufi brotherhood’s tradition of celebrating the Mawlid, known as gamou in Senegal, the Shiites consider that this festival should be celebrated in a different way. The first part of this article reviews the elements that make the gamou a major event in the religious, social and even political life of Senegal. I then show how the celebration of this festival by Senegalese Shiites reflects both a desire to draw closer to Sufi brotherhoods, notably in a common opposition to Wahhabi attacks, and a desire to distinguish themselves from the Sunni religious environment.

  À partir des années 2000, les chiites du Sénégal participent à la célébration de la naissance du Prophète. Bien qu’ils s’inscrivent dans la tradition des confréries soufies pour célébrer le Mawlid, appelé gamou au Sénégal les chiites considèrent que cette fête doit être célébrée sous une autre forme. La première partie de cet article rappelle les éléments qui font du gamou un évènement majeur dans la vie religieuse, sociale et même politique du Sénégal. On montrera ensuite comment la célébration de cette fête par les chiites sénégalais témoigne à la fois d’une volonté de se rapprocher des confréries soufies, notamment dans une opposition commune aux critiques des wahhabites, et d’une volonté de distinction vis-à-vis de l’environnement religieux sunnite.

  منذ العقد الأول من القرن الحادي والعشرين، يشارك شيعة السنغال في الاحتفال بالمولد النبوي الشريف. فعلى الرغم من أنهم تابعون لتقاليد الجماعات الصوفية للاحتفال بالمولد النبوي، المسمى غامو في السنغال، إلا أنهم يعتبرون أنه يجب الاحتفال بهذا العيد بشكل آخر. فيشير الجزء الأول من هذا المقال إلى العناصر التي تجعل من غامو حدثًا كبيرًا في الحياة الدينية والاجتماعية وحتى السياسية للسنغال. ونبين بعد ذلك كيف أن احتفال الشيعة السنغاليين بهذا العيد يشهد في الوقت نفسه على رغبتهم في التقرب من الجماعات الصوفية، وبوجه خاص في معارضة مشتركة لانتقادات الوهابيين، وكذلك على رغبتهم في التميز تجاه البيئة الدينية السنية.
