Resumen de Red Interuniversitaria Latinoamericana y del Caribe sobre Discapacidad y Derechos Humanos: Tejiendo lazos para la transformación

  Desde la Red Interuniversitaria Latinoamericana y del Caribe sobre Discapacidad y Derechos Humanos, sostenemos que las Universidades de nuestra región - como instituciones críticas de la sociedad – tienen como rol social aportar en pos del resguardo y el fortalecimiento del ejercicio de los derechos estructurantes de la condición humana, mediante la acción político-académica y la reflexión de toda su comunidad universitaria. A partir de las Declaraciones de la Conferencia Regional de Educación Superior de 2008 y 2018 , donde se define a la Educación Superior como “…un bien público y social, un derecho humano universal y un deber del Estado” se hace indispensable resignificar dichos postulados y darle contenido en el debate actual sobre el derecho a estudiar y trabajar en las Instituciones de Educación Superior, la efectivización de derechos y el papel de la Universidad Latinoamericana y del Caribe en el desarrollo social, político, económico y cultural de sus pueblos.

  From the Latin American and Caribbean Interuniversity Network on Disability and Human Rights, we maintain that the Universities of our region - as critical institutions of society - have a social role to contribute towards the protection and strengthening of the exercise of the structuring rights of the condition through political-academic action and the reflection of the entire university community. From the Declarations of the Regional Conference of Higher Education of 2008 and 2018, where Higher Education is defined as "...a public and social good, a universal human right and a duty of the State" it is essential to resignify said postulates and give content to the current debate on the right to study and work in Higher Education Institutions, the realization of rights and the role of the Latin American and Caribbean University in the social, political, economic and cultural development of its peoples.
