    No hay integración si no existe una incorporación integral en la vida comunitaria. En esa incorporación no se puede obviar el mundo del trabajo.

    Es precisamente en ese mundo donde las personas con necesidades especiales se van a encontrar con las contradicciones de una sociedad que tira por tierra los argumentos que utilizó en otro momento. Así, conceptos como los de rentabilidad pueden discriminar, y de hecho discriminan, a cientos de ciudadanos que en otro momento se trató de incorporar lo máximo posible al mundo en que les había tocado vivir. El hecho de compartir no sólo escuela, sino trabajo, con aquellas personas que tienen necesidades especiales, no desfavorece la vida de los llamados “normales”, sino que mejora sus condiciones de vida.

    En este artículo, se intenta reseñar los condicionantes históricos recientes en el contexto de la historia del término de deficiencia mental. Y se intenta demostrar que las intenciones de la sociedad en su conjunto van más por intereses de descalificación que por intereses de promoción cuando de deficientes mentales se trata.

    There is no integration if complete incorporation does not exist in community life. In that incorporation we cannot obviate working world.

    It is, precisely, in that world where people with special needs will find all the contradictions of a society that ruins the arguments that itself used in other time. So, concepts as those concerning profitability can discriminate against, and in fact they do, hundreds of citizens that in other time were treated to be incorporated the maximun possible to the world they had to live in. The fact of sharing not only school, but also work, with these people with special needs, does not cease to favour the life of those called "normals", but that improves their conditions in all levels.

    In this article, we try to describe the recent historic determinig factors in the context of the term of mental deficiency, and we try to prove that the intentions of society in its entirety go more for the interests of discrediting than for the interests of promotion when we are dealing with mental deficients.
