    Esta pesquisa investiga as trajetórias narrativas de quatro estudantes ingressantes do curso de Letras. Para isso, consideramos o conceito histórico-cultural de perezhivanie, referente às experiências emocionais que os sujeitos atravessam como parte de seu desenvolvimento, destacando a influência do contexto sociocultural refratada pelo sujeito. A vivência em questão teve como foco a escolha pelo curso, as primeiras memórias de aprendizagem de línguas, a inclinação para a docência/tradução e a tomada de decisão pelo curso. Os resultados sugerem uma relação afetiva com o campo da linguagem desde a infância e a presença de professores incentivadores. No entanto, desafios como a desvalorização da profissão e a falta de apoio social foram recorrentes. Além disso, a aprendizagem de uma nova língua figura afetivamente como uma válvula de escape. O estudo busca, desta forma, compreender quais fatores são determinantes na escolha pelo curso de Letras, contribuindo para melhor oferta desses cursos no ensino superior.

    This research investigates the narrative trajectories of four students entering the Letras course. To achieve this, it was considered the cultural-historical concept of perezhivanie, which refers to the emotional experiences that an individual goes throughas part of their development, highlighting the influence of the sociocultural context refracted by the subject. The experience in question focuses on the choice of college major, the first memories of childhood and language learning, the inclination towards teaching/translation and the decision to take the degree. The results revealed an affective relationship with the field of language since childhood, alongside the presence of encouraging teachers. However, challenges such as professional devaluation andlack of social support were recurrent. Also, learning a new language emerges as an opportunity to vent. In this way, The study seeks to understand the decisive factors in choosing a language major, thus contributing to the improvement of these courses in higher education.
