Static equilibrium is one of the basic and important principles taught in secondary school physics, and the steelyard, as a traditional Chinese weighing tool, is a typical manifestation of static equilibrium in ancient times. This paper introduces in detail the construction of Chinese steelyards and the skills related to their practical use, making static equilibrium more concrete and interesting, helping to deepen students’ understanding of static equilibrium, broadening their horizons, and extending their creative thinking ability.
