  • Resumen
    • The growing number of high school students who receive physics instruction from out-of-field teachers with an insufficient background in physics has been a serious concern.1,2 There is no silver bullet or one-size-fits-all program solving this nationwide problem. Here we present an idea, curriculum, implementation, and outcomes of a pilot Mitchell Institute Physics Enhancement Program (MIPEP) helping underprepared physics teachers who are in the classroom today. This program is run by the physics faculty members at Texas A&M University in collaboration with high school master teachers and can potentially be replicated or adopted by other physics departments around the country without major institutional change.
