    El presente texto es un documento introductorio valorativo sobre los aportes concretos de antropólogos claves en la antropología del arte tales como Clifford Geertz y Alfred Gell, para los estudios contemporáneos del arte. Entre los que más destacan están el enfoque de Geertz y la consideración teórica de Gell en el concepto de agencia. Partiendo de una revisión documental, analizando lo que significa la definición del arte, los métodos de su estudio y el enfoque en que la antropología ha propuesto su acercamiento, se llega a la propuesta de usar la agencia como base teórica para el abordaje del arte sin distinción cultural, pues el concepto está en un horizonte de interpretación que puede ser instrumentalizado por distintas disciplinas.

    This text is an introductory document that evaluates the specific contributions of key anthropologists in the anthropology of art, such as Clifford Geertz and Alfred Gell, for contemporary art studies. Among the contributions that stand out the most are Geertz's approach and Gell's theoretical consideration of the concept of agency. Starting from a documentary review, analyzing what the definition of art means, the methods of its study and the approach in which anthropology has proposed its approach, we arrive at the proposal of using agency as a theoretical basis for approaching art without cultural distinction, since the concept is within a horizon of interpretation that can be instrumentalized by different disciplines.
