Resumen de El Ballet Español de Antonio en gira por la URSS: Cruzar el Telón de Acero en 1966

• Tras siete años de gestiones, en 1966 se produjeron los primeros intercambios de compañías de danza entre España y la URSS, dos países que no habían mantenido relaciones desde la Guerra Civil. El Ballet Español de Antonio actuó en tres ciudades soviéticas y el Ballet de Igor Moiseiev lo hizo más tarde en seis ciudades españolas. El resultado de este primer intercambio hispano-soviético, gestionado por Goskontsert a través del empresario Fernand Lumbroso y la Agence Littéraire et Artistique Parisienne, con la colaboración del Ministerio de Información y Turismo y la autorización del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, fue valorado muy positivamente por las entidades de ambos países. El examen de las gestiones previas, en las que intervinieron empresarios, personal de los ministerios y de las embajadas españolas de París, Washington y Londres, ha sido efectuado por la autora en otra publicación. En el presente artículo se analiza en detalle la primera parte del intercambio, es decir, la gira del Ballet Español de Antonio por la URSS, desde el cóctel de despedida hasta la valoración patriótica a posteriori, pasando por el calendario de actuaciones, los artistas, la dimensión económica de la empresa, el repertorio interpretado, las apreciaciones de la crítica rusa y la recepción de los exiliados españoles. El objetivo de este trabajo es sentar las bases para una interpretación contextualizada de la labor de diplomacia cultural que las compañías de ballet llevaron a cabo en el contexto de la Guerra Fría. After seven years of arrangements, the first dance company exchanges between Spain and the USSR, two countries that had not maintained relations since the Civil War, took place in 1966. The Spanish Ballet of Antonio performed in three Soviet cities and the Igor Moiseiev Ballet subsequently performed in six Spanish cities. The result of this first Spanish-Soviet exchange, managed by Goskontsert through the businessman Fernand Lumbroso and the Agence Littéraire et Artistique Parisienne, with the collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Information and Tourism and the authorization of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was highly valued by the entities in both countries. The preliminary arrangements, in which businesspeople, ministry staff, and Spanish ambassadors in Paris, Washington, and London were involved, have been analysed by the author in another publication. This article examines in depth the first part of the exchange, the tour of the Spanish Ballet of Antonio in the USSR, from the farewell cocktail party to the patriotic appraisal a posteriori, the performance schedule, the artists, the economic dimension of the enterprise, the repertoire that was performed, the opinions of the Russian critics, and the reception by Spanish exiles in the USSR. The aim of this study is to establish the foundations for a contextualized interpretation of the task of cultural diplomacy that ballet companies carried out in the context of the Cold War.
