The paper investigates recent development in the Italian regulation of employment and self-employment from the point of view of remedies. On the one hand, the protection of the classical employment subordination has been extended, by the legislative decree 81/2015, to the so-called "collaborazioni organizzate"; on the other, the law 81/2017 has recently introduced a new protection, deeply rooted in contract law, of pure and genuine self-employment. The author outlines the shortfalls in the new Italian legislative approach.
