Resumen de Richard Rorty e as estratégias redescritivas

The theme of our reflection is redescription, a concept used by the neopragmatist philosopher Richard Rorty. The problem wwe seek to investigate is howw redescription strategies occur and our general objective is to showw how redescription can be used to recreate ne descriptions about nature, society and man. Specifically, we aim to evaluate how philosophical hermeneutics can offer us new strategies for understanding these phenomena. We will also use the concept of paradigm incommensurability, formulated by the philosopher and historian of science Thomas Kuhn to understand redescription strategies that occurend in the history of science and we will seek to extend them from the history of philosophy and culture. Is this sense, we will seek to develop the idea according to which it is possible to understand that cultures are created without substanting their descriptions through concepts such as substances and essences, concepts that are dear to metaphysics. From this point, we can exemplify that there are not exactly essences to be more ande more grasped in the epistemological process, but Only different descriptions and their relationships. With this, we cam defend that philosophy and other sciences can base their investigations, rather, on a form of inquiry based on conversation in the Socratic mode, than on an investigation based on theory of knowledge. This investigation is guided by the wworks of Richard Rorty and his qualified commentators. Our intention is, above all, to understand howw this concept os redescription can act in the development of a culture devoid of any philosophical essentialism. This, in turn, could then be considered as fundation of arbitrary conceptions and totalitarian societies. Redescription, on the other hand, could only be successful in cosieties where democratic and solidarity values prevail. By noting the strategy of fundation through the search for essences instead of conversation through the sharing of redescriptions, the defense of the conception according to which a democratic society finds justification in historical, adaptable and sophistical knowledge, as opposed to supposed definitive descriptions, is explaned, inflexible and of metaphysical origin.

O tema de nossa reflexão é a redescrição, conceito utilizado pelo filósofo neopragmatista Richard Rorty. O problema que procuramos investigar é como ocorrem as estratégias de redescrição e o nosso objetivo geral é mostrar como a redescrição pode ser utilizada para a recriação de novas descrições sobre a natureza, a sociedade e o homem. Especificamente, objetivamos avaliar como a hermenêutica filosófica pode nos oferecer novas estratégias de compreensão destes fenômenos. Utilizaremos também o conceito de incomensurabilidade dos paradigmas, formulado pelo filósofo e historiador da ciência Thomas Kuhn, para compreender estratégias de redescrição que ocorreram na história da ciência e buscaremos estendê-las a partir da história da filosofia e da cultura. Nesse sentido, procuraremos desenvolver a ideia segundo a qual é possível compreender que culturas são criadas sem fundamentar suas descrições por meio de conceitos como substâncias e essências, conceitos esses caros à metafísica. A partir desse ponto, poderemos exemplificar que não existem propriamente essências a serem mais e mais apreendidas no processo epistemológico, mas apenas diversas descrições e suas relações. Com isso, podemos defender que a filosofia e as demais ciências podem fundamentar suas investigações antes em uma forma de inquirição baseada na conversação ao modo socrático do que em uma investigação fundamentada em uma teoria do conhecimento. Essa investigação se orienta segundo obras de Richard Rorty e de seus comentadores qualificados. Nossa intenção é, sobretudo, compreender como esse conceito de redescrição pode atuar no desenvolvimento de uma cultura desprovida de qualquer essencialismo filosófico. Este, por sua vez, poderia ser então considerado como o fundamento de concepções arbitrárias e sociedades totalitárias. Já a redescrição, por outro lado, essa só poderia ter sucesso em sociedades onde imperam valores democráticos e de solidariedade. Ao constatar a estratégia de uma fundamentação pela busca de essências, ao invés de uma conversação pela partilha de redescrições, amplia-se a defesa da concepção segundo a qual uma sociedade democrática encontra justificação em saberes históricos, adaptáveis e sofísticos, em oposição a supostas descrições definitivas, inflexíveis e de origem metafísica.
