  El embarazo es un período en la vida de la mujer que se acompaña de numerosos cambios fisiológicos principalmente hormonales y vasculares, responsables de manifestaciones en la cavidad oral. Los dientes, los tejidos de soporte y sostén, la mucosa oral puede verse afectados, lo que hace necesario el cuidado bucodental en las mujeres embarazadas. Para promover comportamientos saludables, se debe tener en cuenta que estas pacientes necesitan información de los cambios que tienen lugar durante la gestación y su relación con las alteraciones bucodentales para así lograr el objetivo de este articulo instruir y orientar a las mujeres gestantes y así cuidar y mantener su salud bucal.
