The objective of this work was to determine the floristic composition and structure of an ecosystem 60 years after applying the Refinement method, within a sector of the San Eusebio Forest, La Carbonera, Mérida – Venezuela. Two plots of 0.1 ha (50x20 m) were established, one for each selected area: a) one within the primary forest (control) and b) one within the intervened forest (refinement). In each plot, all individuals of tree species with a DBH ≥ 10 cm were measured. 113 individuals were recorded, classified into 15 families and 22 species. In the undisturbed forest, 13 tree species were found grouped in 9 families and in the intervened forest, 16 species were found in 11 families, with Rosaceae and Euphorbiaceae being the most representative for both types of forests with a Family Value Index (IVF%) greater than 14%. According to the Importance Value Index (IVI%), the most important species in the undisturbed forest: Prunus mortziana, Myrcia fallax, Laplacea semiserrata and Citharexylun subflavescens. For the intervened forest, the species Prunus mortziana, Hieronyma oblonga var. obtusata and Guettarda steyermarkii. The Shannon-Wiener index was 2.76 for the intervened forest. The average density was 560 individuals/ha.
