  • In the history of science, there is a renewed interest in the history of mining, mostly approached with a focus on enviromental issues or from the point of view of "vernacular knowledge". In Underground Mathematics, however, Thomas Morel delves into an aspect of early modern mining history that is still largely unknown: the history og geometria subterranea, or Markscheidekunst, literally the "art of setting limits"
