Resumen de El gobierno de la Compañía de Jesús y el confesionario de Felipe V. Relatos de poder e influencia (1714-1720)

El presente trabajo se centra en el análisis de las peticiones en favor de los intereses de particulares enviadas por Michelangelo Tamburini, general de la Compañía de Jesús, al padre Guillaume Daubenton durante su segunda etapa como confesor de Felipe V de España. Solicitudes que implicaban una construcción interesada de la memoria que trataba de poner en valor, tanto la fidelidad de los peticionarios al monarca, como su amor a los jesuitas. Se abordará el estudio de la forma en la que el general justificaba los méritos de quien consideraba acreedor de la recompensa y protección del rey y el de las dinámicas de colaboración y resistencia establecidas entre Tamburini y Daubenton. La pretensión última es contribuir a conocer mejor las relaciones de la Compañía de Jesús con el poder político hispánico de las dos primeras décadas del siglo XVIII.

This paperfocuses on the analysis of the requestsin favour of the interests of individuals sent by Michelangelo Tamburini, General of the Society of Jesus, to Father Guillaume Daubenton during his second stage as confessor of Philip V of Spain. These requests involveda self-interested construction of memory that sought to highlight both the petitioners’ loyalty to the monarch and their love for the jesuits. The study of the way in which the general justified the merits of those he considered worthy of the king’s reward and protection will be addressed, as well as the dynamics of collaboration and resistance established between Tamburini and Daubenton. The ultimate aim to contribute to a better understanding of the relations of the Society of Jesus with Spanish political power in the first two decades of the 18th century.
