  La demencia senil es un síndrome que implica la perdida de la capacidad funcional del cerebro, el cual permite un deterioro en la capacidad de razonamiento, memoria y/o otras funciones que impiden la capacidad de realizar ciertas actividades. Este concepto ha ido evolucionando debido a que con el transcurso del tiempo se han hecho aportaciones de diferente índole para llegar a conocer esta enfermedad, aunque históricamente se decía que podían padecerla solo las personas mayores, hoy en día podemos tener en claro que no solo es la edad, si no también afecta otros factores para tener está patología. Aún que su concepto este defino por varios autores aún queda mucho por aprender, estudiar y saber tratarla.

  Senile dementia is a syndrome that involves the loss of the functional capacity of the brain, which allows a deterioration in the ability to reason, memory and/or other functions that prevent the ability to perform certain activities. This concept has evolved because over time different kinds of contributions have been made to understand this disease. Although historically it was said that only older people could suffer from it, today we can be clear that it is not only Age, if not, also affects other factors to have this pathology. Even though its concept is defined by several authors, there is still much to learn, study and know how to treat it.
