La respuesta de Lenin al estallido de la Gran Guerra y la quiebra de la Segunda Internacional, como consecuencia del apoyo respectivo de las direcciones de sus partidos de los países beligerantes a la guerra, fue la de concluir que se había abierto una nueva época histórica, caracterizada por la actualidad de la revolución a escala mundial y la necesidad de construir una nueva internacional obrera, vinculada al objetivo de impulsar ese proceso revolucionario mundial. Esa concepción y la confirmación fáctica de la revolución con su estallido en Rusia en 1917 fue el verdadero embrión del nuevo movimiento comunista.

Lenin’s response to the outbreak of the Great War and the collapse of the Second International, as a result of the support given to the war by the respective leaderships of their parties in the belligerent countries, was to conclude that a new historical epoch had opened, characterised by the relevance of the revolution on a global scale and the need to build a new workers’ international, linked to the objective of promoting this global revolutionary process. That conception and the factual confirmation of the revolution with its outbreak in Russia in 1917 was the true embryo of the new communist movement.
