    Este artículo describe el desarrollo fugaz del teatro el Cabildo, una compañía independiente que entre 1968 y 1969, realizó tres obras que elevó a los sujetos populares a ser los protagonistas de la escena teatral. Esta reconstrucción histórica, se hizo a partir de un ejercicio entre la historia y la memoria de sus integrantes. Además, el contexto social y político en donde surgió el Cabildo, fueron dos años previos al triunfo de la Unidad Popular. Nuestra hipótesis es que dicha compañía anunció desde lo artístico, una caracterización certera de la base social que apoyó al Gobierno Popular.

    This article describes the fleeting development of the Cabildo theater, an independent company that between 1968 and 1969, produced three works that elevated popular subjects to be the protagonists of the theater scene. This historical reconstruction was made from an exercise between history and the memory of its members. Furthermore, the social and political context in which the Cabildo emerged was two years prior to the triumph of Popular Unity. Our hypothesis is that said company announced from an artistic point of view, an accurate characterization of the social base that supported the Popular Government.
