El presente artículo toma como base La Edad de Oro, de José Martí, para plantear que a través de esta publicación ex profeso para niños, el autor postuló que tanto lectura como escritura eran acciones que los infantes debían llevar a cabo para bregar por un futuro libre de sometimientos políticos. This article is based on The Golden Age by José Martí. It sets out that through this publication deliberately made for children, the author puts forward that both, reading and writing, are actions that children should be able to accomplish in order to struggle for a future, free of political subjugation. Reading will contribute to become “the man of tomorrow who will be able to restore the deed in its historical Latin American moment.
