El patrimonio documental es el legado del pasado a la comunidad presente y futura. Constituye la memoria documentada de los pueblos. Por su importancia el presente artículo tiene como objetivo valorar la influencia del estado de conservación del patrimonio documental en la prestación de servicios bibliotecarios. Se analizan conceptos emitidos por diferentes autores acerca del patrimonio documental señalando su importancia y necesidad de conservación.

The documental patrimony is the legacy from the past to the present and future community. It constitutes the documented memory of the towns. For their importance the present article has as objective to value the influence of the state of conservation of the documental patrimony in the benefit of services librarians. Concepts are analyzed emitted by different authors about the documental patrimony pointing out their importance and conservation necessity.
