Resumen de La presencia del venado en el arte rupestre de dos cuevas del Puuc

Entre los mayas el venado ha sido representado en distintos soportes y es protagonista de diversos relatos desde la época prehispánica hasta nuestros días. Entendiendo que se trata de una figura polisémica, el presente escrito retoma la imagen del venado y sus representaciones en el arte rupestre de dos cuevas en la región del Puuc, con la intención de comenzar a estudiar un corpus iconográfico compartido en aquella zona y explorar sus posibles interpretaciones a la luz de distintas fuentes y estudios recientes sobre el papel del cérvido en la tradición maya.

The deer has been represented in different media by the Maya and is the main character in many stories from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Understanding it as a polysemic figure, this paper examines the image of the deer and its representations in the rock art of two caves in the Puuc region, with the intention of beginning to study a shared iconographic corpus in that area and exploring its possible interpretations in the light of different sources and recent studies on the role of the deer in the Maya tradition.
