Presentamos al lector una breve semblanza literaria de la obra de Tomás Domínguez Illanes, poeta hidalguense. Se trata de un trabajo de investigación hemerográfica, hasta el momento inédito, cuyo objetivo central es el rescate del patrimonio cultural literario del Estado de Hidalgo. Tomás Dominguez y su obra ocuparon un importante espacio cultural en la sociedad pachuqueña de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX. Su pluma y su estilo literario, apegados a la corriente positivista, encontraron eco en la elite minera y comercial pachuqueña, necesitada de cultura y modernidad. Los temas abordados por el poeta cumplieron con la expectativa de brindarle referentes nacionalistas a una sociedad y a una entidad federativa recién creada o para otros inventada.

We present to the reader a brief literary semblance of the work of Tomás Domínguez Illanes, a Hidalgo poet. It is a hemerographic research work, until now unpublished, whose main objective is the rescue of the literary cultural heritage of the State of Hidalgo. Tomás Dominguez and his work occupied an important cultural space in the pachuqueña society of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. His pen and his literary style, attached to the positivist current, found an echo in the mining and commercial elite of Pachuca, in need of culture and modernity. The themes addressed by the poet fulfilled the expectation of providing nationalist references to a society and a newly created or invented federative entity.
