La pintura de milagros fue muy popular en la Nueva España durante los siglos XVII y XVIII y como su nombre lo indica se utilizó para representar los milagros atribuidos tanto a santos como a imágenes religiosas. En el caso que nos ocupa, la pintura en cuestión representa los dos milagros atribuidos al Cristo conocido como el Señor de Singuilucan: la renovación de la santa imagen y el crecimiento de la misma.

Miracle painting was very popular in New Spain during the 17th and 18th centuries and, as its name indicates, it was used to represent miracles attributed to both saints and religious images. In the case at hand, the painting in question represents the two miracles attributed to the Christ known as the Lord of Singuilucan: the renewal of the holy image and its growth.
