El imperio inca se denominó Tahuantinsuyu, que quiere decir región de los cuatro cuartos; hace referencia a las cuatro direcciones geográficas: norte, sur, este y oeste. Dentro de su organización se encontraba una estructura religiosa básica, el templo, sus trabajadores y los sacrificios, que se repetía en dicha extensión como modelo organizacional que presentamos de manera introductoria. Mencionaremos las principales construcciones religiosas, aquellas que destacan por su importancia mítico-histórica, como el oráculo de Huanacauri, el templo de Coricancha o el templo de Pachacamac. Analizaremos cómo funcionaban los templos, sus oficiantes y las mujeres encargadas de ellos. Por otro lado, analizaremos el papel de las acllas y sus categorías, teniendo en cuenta la edad y el linaje: mamacona, cayan huarmi, huaizuella, taqui aclla, uinachiay, taqui aclla, etc. Para terminar, hablamos del sacrificio, sus categorías, los objetos y seres sacrificados: hierbas, sebo, mullu, plata machacada, llamas, cuyes, etc.
