Resumen de Medicina, salud e higiene en el siglo XIX

El objetivo del presente ensayo es abordar el tema de la higiene para comprender cómo se convirtió en un concepto clave para atender los problemas de salud y mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población de los países occidentales, incluyendo México, desde finales del siglo XVIII y durante el siglo XIX. Se parte de entender el modelo de medicina y salud que prevaleció en la época, para de allí desarrollar la relación de la medicina, la salud y la higiene. De allí se explica cómo se realizó la difusión de los preceptos higiénicos entre la población y el papel que desarrollaron los médicos en la enseñanza y difusión de la higiene con el fin de contar con una población más sana y vigorosa, como era el ideal de la época.

This essay pretends relate the issue of hygiene to understand how it became a key concept to understand health problems and improve the living conditions of the population of Western countries, including Mexico, since the end of the 18th century and during the 19th century. It starts from understanding the medicine and health model that prevailed at that time, to develop the relationship of medicine, health and hygiene from there. After that, it is explained how the dissemination of hygienic precepts was carried out among the population and the role that doctors developed in teaching and disseminating hygiene in order to have a healthier and more vigorous population, as was the ideal of these centuries.
