    En este trabajo se analiza la amplia presencia de las cajas de ahorros españolas en América Latina, aunque no directamente a través de oficinas operativas o participaciones en entidades de crédito, pues la intermediación financiera la realizan desde sus sucursales españolas con el apoyo de oficinas de representación y corresponsales. Tal presencia es particularmente intensa en los ámbitos de cooperación e institucional, así como en la prioridad que tienen para integrar a los inmigrantes en los circuitos financieros nacionales y en la abundante obra social de la que éstos son beneficiarios.

    In this study we examine the extensive presence of Spanish savings banks in Latin America, although not directly through operational offices or holdings in credit institutions, as the financial intermediation is carried out from their Spanish branches with the backing of representation offices and information agencies. This presence is particularly strong in the cooperation and institutional areas, as well as in the priority they have for integrating immigrants into domestic financial circuits and in the substantial welfare work of which the latter are the beneficiaries.
