La rehabilitación oral en adultos mayores con síndrome de Kelly y enfermedad tiroidea presenta desafíos multidimensionales para los odontólogos. Esto incluye aspectos fisiológicos, estéticos, de adaptación, consideraciones personales y de edad. Tratar a pacientes con enfermedad tiroidea implica comprender las manifestaciones orales y sistémicas de la enfermedad; por otro lado, el síndrome de Kelly se caracteriza clínicamente observando un maxilar edéntulo total y dientes únicamente en la zona anterior de la mandíbula lo cual genera una carga adicional en estos afectando especialmente la región anterior del maxilar y provocando una posible atrofia ósea a lo largo del tiempo. Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 68 años diagnosticada con síndrome de Kelly, hipotiroidismo y problemas periodontales, destacando la importancia de abordar estos casos de manera integral con el objetivo de devolver la salud oral y la calidad de vida al paciente.

Oral rehabilitation in older adults with Kelly syndrome and thyroid disease presents multidimensional challenges for dentists. This includes physiological, aesthetic, adaptation, personal and age considerations. Treating patients with thyroid disease involves understanding the oral and systemic manifestations of the disease; On the other hand, Kelly syndrome is clinically characterized by observing a completely edentulous maxilla and teeth only in the anterior area of the jaw, which generates an additional load on them, especially affecting the anterior region of the maxilla and causing possible bone atrophy along the jaw. weather. The case of a 68-year-old patient diagnosed with Kelly syndrome, hypothyroidism and periodontal problems is presented, highlighting the importance of addressing these cases comprehensively with the aim of returning oral health and quality of life to the patient.
