  • This article offers a new methodological approach to the comparative study of Statius’ Thebaid and Silius’ Punica. Indeed, by monitoring the recurring intertextual connections between predatory lion similes in both texts it is possible to shed light on the dynamics of imitation between the two contemporary epics.
